Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Matt 6:10

Once you come to the place where you can tarry with the Lord one hour, something supernatural happens. You begin to move in the Spirit of God, to understand the character and purpose of God, and to experience the anointing of the power of God as never before. The essence of prayer is not twisting the arm of God so He will do something He does not really want to do. Rather, prayer is coming into agreement with what God has already done in Jesus Christ and getting to the place where our petitions harmonize with what Jesus Himself is praying.

Through the Son, we know God as our Father (Galatians 4:4-6). The blood of the Lord Jesus Christ was the agency by which God adopted us into His family, and because of that blood we can say, "Our Father." We are in a covenant relationship with God by virtue of the blood of Jesus. It is important that we form a mental, visual picture of Christ hanging on the Cross and of the blood that put us into that covenant relationship with God our Father. We need to begin thanking Him for the blood.

Lord Teach Us To Pray!

Of all the books ever written on prayer, never has there been such vital instruction as that given by Jesus when His disciples said, "Lord, teach us to pray ..." (Luke 11:1). In response to their plea, Jesus gave a model prayer. How can we attempt to pray longer or pray better until we first learn to pray the way Jesus taught His disciples to pray? When the Rabbis taught in the first century, they generally taught by giving topics of truth. They listed certain topics and then under each topic, the rabbis provided a complete outline. In this model prayer now known as "The Lord's Prayer," Jesus also enumerated topics and instructed: "After this manner therefore pray ye" (Matthew 6:9-13). We have memorized, quoted, and sung the Lord's Prayer, but we have not seen it as a group of six topics to be followed in prayer under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Something supernatural happens when you pray one hour. If you do not consistently pray one full hour every day and would like to learn how, listen to Jesus who said, "After this manner therefore pray ye." As you learn to follow the plan He gave, your prayer life will no longer be a frustrating puzzle; instead, tarrying with the Lord an hour in prayer will become easy and natural. If you do not have liberty at times as you begin to pray, one thing to remember is to begin by singing songs of praise to the Lord. Psalm 22:3 tells us the Lord inhabitest (sits down among) the praises (the residual song of the Spirit) of His people. When we sing to God, He is enthroned upon our praises and sits down among us. Isaiah 61:3 speaks of putting on the garment of praise in this verse is tehilla meaning "the residual song of the Spirit." We are to put on the garment of praise -- the song of the Spirit -- for the spirit of heaviness. Psalm 100:2 instructs us to come before God's presence with singing.

So at times you may want to sing to the Lord in your prayer time; clearly this praise is entirely scriptural. Remember that you are not racing the clock or praying some formula. You are free to take time to enjoy the Lord and to let your soul go out to Him in praise and adoration.

We believe that fervent prayer is essential if we are to be effective in reaching people with the life changing reality of Jesus Christ. This is applied through the following ministries:

  • Sunday School 9:00 AM
  • Morning Worship - 10:00 AM
  • Kingdom Living Bible Study Wednesday 7:00 PM
  • Youth Service 4th. Sunday
  • Youth Fellowship Friday 7:00 PM

We invite you one and all to come and pray with us.clipart_religious_038.gif (9941 bytes)
